KYC
Why do I have to answer more questions if I buy for more than 10 000 SEK and 125 000 SEK? Who can access my data?
Laws and regulations against money laundering require you to hand in extensive information to btcx if you buy for more than 10 000 SEK. The next “level” is set to 125 000 SEK, which requires you to answer a new form. This will be asked when you put an order and KYC stands for Know Your Customer.
Taxes
How do I calculate my taxes?
Contact the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) if you have questions regarding your taxes. You can read our tax return guide here: Tax return guide.
Account
Do you share data with government organizations, e.g. the Swedish Tax Agency?
Not as a routine. We only hand out information if a government organization contacts us and prove that they have the lawful right to receive your data.
Can I update my information through e-mail if I enter the wrong information?
Yes, if you are a verified customer with standard btcx. If you are using btcx express, you first need to register and verify a standard btcx account.
Why do you need to know if I am a Politically Exposed Person (PEP)?
When you register an account with us, buy or exchange cryptocurrency, you need to inform us if you are a so-called PEP. It refers to a person that has or has had an important public function in a state or an international organization. This also applies to the persons family members and co-workers. A PEP presents a higher risk of involvement in bribery, according to the Anti-Money Laundering Act (2017:630). Read more here: Are you a politically exposed person.
Can you delete my information?
We are obliged by law to save all incoming information for five years, according to The Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act, 2017:630.
Do you sell or hand out information to a third party?
No. All the data we receive and save is protected. Government organizations may in rare cases request your data.
I created an account before 2015 and cannot log in?
You need to register again. During 2015 we updated our routine on how to verify an account. The accounts that were not updated by our customers during this period are deleted.
Can people with protected identity use BTCX?
You cannot buy cryptocurrency at btcx if you have a protected identity.
Is it possible to create or verify my account with BankID?
Yes, BTCX only allows for users to create and verify their account with BankID. Customers who registered before this became required needs to convert their account to BankID. BankID is only used for registration and verification, not for logging in to the account.
I have a problem with BankID
If you experience any kind of problem with your BankID, it is primarily the institution who issued it that you need to contact, usually this is your bank. You can also check if your BankID seems to be working properly by clicking and testing it here: BankID.
Why do I need to register to verify my personal information?
In rare cases, the order details do not match the official records, even though you have used BankID. If so, we need to confirm your identity with a more elaborate process. As part of this you will need to create an account with us. You will also need to submit photos or personal proof of identity. Read more about the process here: Registering to verify your personal information.
Travel Rule
The Regulation
Travel Rule refers to the TFR Regulation, EU Regulation 2023/1113: EU Regulation 2023/1113, which requires that certain information about senders and recipients accompany transfers. Previously, these information requirements only applied to transfers of traditional funds, but the regulatory requirements now extend to encompass transfers of crypto-assets as well.
The purpose of the regulation is to increase traceability of transactions to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. The Travel Rule requires us at Goobit and BTCX, like other service providers, to collect, verify and transmit certain information related to transfers of crypto-assets.
What does this mean for you?
Under the Travel Rule, we are required to collect specific information on transfers conducted through our services. This means that we need to gather details about senders and recipients, such as name, address, personal identification number, wallet address, organisation number (or similar), and other necessary information.
You may also need to verify the ownership of a wallet for transfers exceeding a certain amount. The Travel Rule requirements apply to both transfers to and from other service providers as well as so-called self-hosted wallets.
Is your information secure?
We handle all information in compliance with applicable data protection regulations, and the information is shared only with other service providers involved in the transfer.
Do you need to take any action?
If we need additional information from you, we will contact you.
